A working tax provision, in your hands

A complete consolidated tax provision for a synthetic eight-entity multinational SaaS group, filing across Canada, the US, and the UK with real currency mechanics, automated end to end inside Excel. Request the package, open the workbook, and run the full year-end arc yourself: roll the period forward, import the new year, refresh, review.

Why this matters

Intelligence isn't the constraint. Capacity is.

Most tax departments are not short on intelligence. They are short on capacity. Complexity you can manage, given enough time; volume simply drowns you. Pointing a smarter model at that does not move the needle, because the answers were never the problem.

The leverage is aiming AI at the capacity problem: letting it write the code that automates the repetitive motions, so the hours and the cognitive load come back to your team. That holds whether you already run agentic workflows or have no agentic platform at all; the code is the payoff either way. This demo is that idea made concrete, a full year-end provision that runs itself.

The year-end arc

The workbook opens on a finished 2025 provision, the kind a reviewer would sign. Run the full year-end cycle yourself, in four presses:

  1. 01

    Roll forward

The workbook secures the prior-year note first, rolls every schedule, writes a named backup, and advances to the new period. It is gated: it warns before overwriting anything and refuses to run twice on the same year.

  2. 02

    Import

The workbook finds the new year's source set, one folder per jurisdiction, and pulls it in through staged, validated tables: trial balances, tax packages, fixed-asset registers, GL detail, and the exchange rates. Every problem surfaces as a tagged row with a reason.

  3. 03

    Refresh

Every schedule repopulates in dependency order. The book-to-tax bridge rebuilds, capital cost allowance computes on the new additions, the loss continuity updates, the deferred-tax basis re-measures across currencies, and the note re-presents with the prior year alongside.

  4. 04

    Review

The tie-out register evaluates on the new year and comes back green, the imported openings tie to the rolled closings, and the cockpit shows which jurisdiction packages are in and what, if anything, still needs a person.

The machine explains itself

Underneath the workbook is a control cockpit. A single dispatcher runs every button, so a person pressing Refresh and a scheduled run take the exact same gated path. Below it, a registry tracks every automation step, what it depends on, and whether it has run for the current period.

On top sits a plain-language status block: the current period, the last roll-forward, the outstanding work, the review checks, and which jurisdiction packages are in. It flags the consolidation as partial until Canada, the US, and the UK have all arrived. Every failure carries a reason: 65 tie-out checks run live inside the workbook, and 22 independent checks verify the build itself before anything ships.

A failure you can read beats a success you have to trust.

Why this shape works: hub and spoke →

Two diagrams, drawn by the build

Both diagrams are generated by the build, never drawn by hand, and the placemat is byte-checked against a fresh regeneration on every verification run: if the workbook changes and the diagram does not, verification fails.

Request the demo

The package is not a public download. Tell us a little about your team and we will send it with a walkthrough: a working session where we run the year-end arc together and talk through where it fits your department. Every value in the package is synthetic.

What you receive:

  • provision_demo.xlsm, the runnable workbook with the automation built in
  • sources for 2025 and 2026, split by jurisdiction (Canada, US, UK), plus the shared exchange-rate feed
  • flow-placemat.html and automation-flow.html, the interactive diagrams
  • START_HERE.txt and CHECKS.md, the walkthrough and the full list of tie-out checks

We use your details only to send the demo and arrange the walkthrough. They are never shared. See our Privacy Policy.
